Jane Jacobs was an urban activist and writer who helped stay several urban renewal projects which were a danger to the local neighbourhoods in North America. On the 1st of May 2009, several of the Jane’s Walks  will be conducted across the globe in an effort to bring people in touch with their neighbourhoods, environment and their city’s history.

PUKAR will be hosting a Jane’s Walk through Girangaon (Village of Mills) in Mumbai on the 1st of May 2009 at 5pm. Meeting point is Bharat Mata Theatre, Parel. profile The closest station is Currey Road on the Central Railway and Lower Parel on the Western line.  The walk will cover iconic places that have contributed to building the social culture and economic strength of the city of Bombay and will last for not more than 2 hours.
